Dear Students and Parents;

Please note the following points and reminders regarding the College Board Advanced Placement  (AP) exams:

• AP exams will be administered Monday, May 7th - Friday, May 18th.  Please view the AP Exam Schedule for specific exam dates and times. 

• AP exams contain multiple-choice questions and a free-response section (either: essay, problem solving, oral response, etc.).

• Courses are offered after-school at RAS for 6,000 LE per course.  A discount is offered if student enrolls in more than one course. Please see Mrs. Lakshana for more information.

• Each AP Exam score is a weighted combination of the student’s score on the multiple-choice section and on the free-response section. The final score is reported on a 5-point scale:

5 = extremely well qualified

4 = well qualified

3 = qualified

2 = possibly qualified

1 = no recommendation

• The AP Program periodically conducts studies to compare the performance of AP students with the performance of college students in parallel courses. For most AP subjects, results indicate that:

AP Exam score of 5 are equivalent to A grades in the corresponding college course.

AP Exam score of 4 are equivalent to grades of A-, B+, and B in college.

AP Exam score of 3 are equivalent to grades of B-, C+, and C in college.

• RAS will be testing Riada students.  If you are interested in taking an AP subject exam, please notify Mrs. Lakshana by March 1, 2018. 

• The cost of the exam is $200.00.  This amount is to be paid in USD currency.

• The exam fee is non-refundable.  If you register and do not sit for the exam, an administrative fee of $20.00  will be imposed, as per College Board guidelines.

• Students will receive their scores through their College Board accounts.  AP Grade Reports will be sent in July to the college designated on the student’s registration answer sheet, to the student’s secondary school, and to the student.
